DREAM THEATER To Tour With TRIVIUM

Progressive metal giants DREAM THEATER will embark on a U.S. headlining tour in September with support from their Roadrunner Records labelmates TRIVIUM. Exact cities and dates will be announced soon.

"On The Backs Of Angels", a brand new song from DREAM THEATER, is available for streaming at the Roadrunner Records YouTube channel. The track comes off the band's new album, "A Dramatic Turn Of Events", which is scheduled for release on September 13 via Roadrunner Records. The CD was mixed by Andy Wallace, who has previously worked with AVENGED SEVENFOLD, WHITE ZOMBIE, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, SEPULTURA, SLAYER and NIRVANA, among many others.

TRIVIUM's new album, "In Waves", will be released on August 9 via Roadrunner Records. The follow-up to 2008's "Shogun" was recorded primarily at Paint It Black Studios in Orlando, Florida (with only the drums having been tracked at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida) with the production/mixing team of Colin Richardson (MACHINE HEAD, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, SLIPKNOT, FEAR FACTORY) and Martin "Ginge" Ford, along with engineer Carl Bown.

Mark Jansen's (EPICA) new band, founded together with Jack Driessen (ex AFTER FOREVER) and Frank Schiphorst, is called MaYaN, named after the wise and rich mayan culture.

'There was only one record label we wanted to sign with: Nuclear Blast, so we didn't even look for other companies to work with and we're very happy that this appreciation is mutual!

The debut album will be recorded and mixed at the end of the year 2010 and the beginning of 2011 by Sascha Paeth. We're also stoked to announce that Jeroen Paul Thesseling (PESTILENCE, OBSCURA), known for his signature six-string fretless playing in progressive death metal, will join as permanent member on bass guitar. Also Isaac Delahaye and Arien van Weesenbeek (EPICA) will complete the line up!

In early 2010 versatile musician Mark Jansen (EPICA) started a project together with keyboardist Jack Driessen and guitarist Sander Gommans (both ex-AFTER FOREVER) to produce some heavy and technical death-metal combined with Jack's trademark symphonic arrangements. After writing some music together, Sander couldn't find the time to go for it anymore. Mark then asked guitarist Frank Schiphorst (SYMMETRY, MARCEL COENEN & FRIENDS, CHRISTMAS METAL SYMPHONY), if he was interested in filling the gap. And he was. When Mark, Jack and Frank got together, great chemistry emerged. Songs started popping out in no time, combining neck-wrecking technical death-metal riffing with huge melodic symphonic parts on thunderous drums topped by Mark's complex and thought-provoking lyrics through his brutal in-your-face grunts and screams. As the project evolved beyond expectations, the three members decided to turn it into a band and really go for it. Ariën van Weesenbeek (EPICA, ex-GOD DETHRONED), Isaac Delahaye (EPICA, ex-GOD DETHRONED) and Jeroen Paul Thesseling (PESTILENCE, OBSCURA) completed the line-up. A new metal-machine was born; MaYaN. As the music asked for more, brainstorming on vocalists for clean parts was done and resulted in a collaboration with the guests; Floor Jansen (REVAMP, ex-AFTER FOREVER), Simone Simons (EPICA), Henning Basse (SONS OF SEASONS) and the revelation and one of the biggest Italian Opera talents; Laura Macrì. Demos were sent to Nuclear Blast, the first and best record label that came up for releasing the music. After listening to the demos their enthusiasm lead to a record-deal. Again a great step to success. MaYaN hired the Gate Studios with renowned producer Sascha Paeth to record their first album called Quarterpast, to be released in May 2011. After the recordings, bassist Jeroen's very busy schedule didn't allow him to join for the planned live shows. He was replaced by Rob van der Loo (ex-SUN CAGED, ex-DELAIN). Now MaYaN is in its ultimate form, the band is ready to hit the stages and presented their debut-album Quarterpast on 19th of May 2011 at the Paradiso in Amsterdam.

Levin wrote, "It's hard to judge ADRENALINE MOB based on last night's show alone. Without a doubt, the musicians are all spectacular, both in their own right as well as a cohesive unit. Russell Allen proved he can do much more than power metal, and Mike Orlando's guitar work was truly ferocious. Mike Portnoy needs to prove nothing at this point in his career, and while in fact his drumming was noticeably less 'proggy' than DREAM THEATER fans might have expected, even playing more basic straight-up hard rock the drummer still laid down a crushing, heavy impact base for the rest of the band to go to town on. The music, both original and covers, all gelled in the way that speaks to the immense talent in the supergroup.

onlymusic,The three members of Band of Skulls, Russell Marsden (guitar & vocals), Emma Richardson (bass & vocals) & Matt Hayward (drums), first met at college and quickly discovered that having two lead singers and three songwriters in a band was always going to present unlimited possibilities. With their creative process and sonic path fully intact the band quickly established themselves in the music and art community with a series of culturally inspired club nights in Southampton, London and further afield in Moscow and Tokyo.

The band, previously known as Fleeing New York, were working on new demo's in late November 2008 at Courtyard Studios in Oxfordshire when their paths crossed with an international collective based in London, Montreal and LA who are now, in a very modern way, partners with the band.

Soon followed more studio time, which formed the basis of their debut album, "Baby Darling Doll Face Honey". With a working relationship sealed with a handshake the album was recorded, mixed and mastered from January through to March 09 before contracts had time to be signed.

From that point onFrom that point on, the progression of events from Southampton to global iTunes happened at lightning speed for Band of Skulls. Their music came to the attention of iTunes staff and made such an impact they were selected for the coveted iTunes Single of the Week campaign in April with the debut single 'I Know What I Am'. Within weeks of completing the album the band will be introduced globally to a digital audience in the USA, UK, France, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the Netherlands via this free download. The album has also been speedily brought forward to be released digitally at the same time.

Music fans around the world will get the first taste of the band's driving guitar force, heartbreaking duets and sun-kissed, Wall of Sound harmonies of not only their single but their powerful debut album released in the USA on Shangri-La Music on April 6th, available exclusively at iTunes for two weeks before being introduced to the wider world at all download stores and even on an old fashioned CD.

It has been an extraordinary and heady last few months for the band and the swift turnaround of the digital album is surely a taster of the way the modern digital world is now driving the changing landscape of an industry undergoing radical changes. All the artwork so far has been based on paintings by bass player / vocalist Emma who recently held an exhibition called "Meat Me At The Butchers", in a butcher's shop where she worked at weekends. She has a record collection of over 20,000 albums and singles, swam for England and even won some medals.

Drummer Matt has played tennis with John McEnroe while his Dad was in a band who supported the Rolling Stones and had the same manager as the Troggs.

Russell's great great grandfather was a stowaway on the Titanic, fleeing Southampton and leaving behind three wives and 16 illegitimate children.

He survived a near fatal car crash that was started by weaving to the rhythm of Ace of Spades by Motorhead. He has also fallen through a glacier, and again, obviously, he survived...

Baby Darling Doll Face Honey was produced, recorded and mixed by Ian Davenport (Supergrass, Badly Drawn Boy) and recorded at Radiohead's Courtyard Studios in Oxfordshire and mixed at the House of Blues studio in Los Angeles.

"I'm in love with this record, which I haven't said about one of our albums for a long time," says founding member and lead guitarist, Neal Schon. "It's a rock record and it sounds amazing." Commenting on the upcoming tour, Schon continues, "We've got a lot of hits to play and there's plenty of time to do some new stuff too, so we're gonna mix it up. We haven't toured with FOREIGNER for over 10 years, so we're really looking forward to this run."

In a recent interview with Boomerocity.com, keyboardist Jonathan Cain stated about "Eclipse", "It's very guitar-driven. This album has very little of me, keyboard-wise. Neal wanted to do a heavier rock album. So, this is kind of his baby. I wrote the lyrics on the thing and lots of the melodies that sit above the guitars. So, then I had to find some place to play in the nooks and crannies."

He continued, "It's a very hard-hitting record that has some conscience to it. It's about lots of things — spirituality, sexuality. There's a song called 'Tantra' on it about tantric circles. I was fascinated with all of that. It's definitely a departure from what we've done before. It's more like a concept record. I think Arnel shines. He sounds great. It's probably one of Neal's best guitar albums. I think he's on a mission on this album — to play, and he did."

To follow the release of "Eclipse", JOURNEY will launch the "Eclipse Tour" with FOREIGNER, and special guest NIGHT RANGER, beginning July 21 at Rio Tinto Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah. Fans can expect to hear new songs from "Eclipse" as well as classics such as "Don't Stop Believin'", "Any Way You Want It", "Faithfully", "Lights", "Separate Ways", "Wheel In The Sky", and many more.

JOURNEY will perform "Don't Stop Believin'" on the "Today" show when the band appears on July 29 as part of this year's Toyota Concert Series.

MORBID ANGEL's new album, "Illud Divinum Insanus", was released on June 7 (one day earlier internationally) via Season of Mist. The cover artwork was designed by Gustavo Sazes.

In a brand new interview with Decibel magazine MORBID ANGEL guitarist Trey Azagthoth was asked if he was concerned that the band's fans might not necessarily be psyched about "Illud Divinum Insanus"'s techno-industrial sensibilities. "I'm not worried about it at all because I don't do it for others' approval," he replied. "And I think all the real fans of this band understand that already. We don't check into the scene to see what scene people accept or don't accept. Me and David did an interview when 'Altars' came out where I said the same thing: We don't check into the latest book of cool to figure out where we're gonna go with our stuff. We look inside ourselves, and I think that's what fans of the band have come to expect. And I think they appreciate that, because they know it's as real as it gets."

Added bassist/vocalist David Vincent: "When we first came out with 'Blessed Are The Sick', people thought it was really different. It took them a long time to embrace it. And that's fine. After everyone bagged on that record for two years and subsequently started sounding like that, we got signed to Warner and everybody's immediate comments were, 'Sellout!' But then 'Covenant' was the fastest, angriest record we had done. So, we challenge ourselves musically and we challenge our listeners. There are plenty of bands that have a really simple, easy formula, and you can predict exactly what you're gonna get on every record. We've never been that way, and there's no reason to start now."

"The way we go about doing what we're doing now is no different than the way we went about doing 'Altars Of Madness'. We played the shit out of our instruments, tapped into our creativity, and delivered. And that's exactly what we did on the new record. We could've gone back through our catalog and said, 'OK, this song and this song did really well for us.' And then we could've just rewritten them. But we didn't do any of that — nothing like it. We grew once again. It's not that big of a change, but people are gonna hear things they're not used to hearing. And like I said, it's still very extreme."

EYES SET TO KILL release its fourth studio album, "White Lotus"

After completing its deal with the band's old record company, the Phoenix quartet will independently release its fourth studio album, "White Lotus", on August 9 through a joint venture between its management, Maphia Entertainment, and the group's newly-launched label, Forsee.

"White Lotus" marks a new beginning for EYES SET TO KILL and a step away from the band's trademark screamo resonance as the effort possesses more of a metal flavor and more clean singing than was the case in the past.

Regarding the new CD's title, vocalist/guitarist Alexia Rodriguez states, "It's a metaphor for our whole take on our future with a rebirth of our whole band and just having a clear mindset. Everything is a lot heavier. Even the songs that have all singing and not much screaming are still heavy. We're making this what we feel like we ought to be."

Dave Aguilera, EYES SET TO KILL manager and owner of Maphia Entertainment, believes "White Lotus" will see the band blossoming and reaching new commercial heights.

"Their music has really evolved over the last few years from a female-fronted young post-hardcore band to a real radio-metal contender," he states. "The sky is the limit with their new sound. I think the masses are finally about to hear about them."

The first single from "White Lotus" is "The Secrets Between", which will be available for free download on June 16 as a special thank you to the fans who have supported the band in the past. "It's one of the heaviest songs on the album and for the song, we kept the whole singing-and-screaming thing," Rodriguez states. "There's still an even amount, but I think it's a good representation of where we are trying to go and what we wanna sound like."

After releasing its first three studio albums through BreakSilence/Suburban Noize Records, EYES SET TO KILL decided to "escape the fire-breathing world of label politics" and instead launched its own independent label, Maphia/Foresee Records, to release the new CD. They already have the tools in place to make it a success.

"Being on our own and even recording on our own, it's so refreshing," Rodriguez says. "We just went to Europe on our own, we got all these past tours on our own and most of the recent tours we opened, we got on our own without the help of a label. Figuring out we can do everything by ourselves with just the help of our manager and agent made it opens our eyes. I feel like everyone should do this."

As an original founding member of both OTEP and BLEED THE DREAM, Aguilera co-produced nine records and sold over 400,000 units. In 2002, he transitioned into a behind-the-scenes role as he discovered and co-managed platinum-selling act YELLOWCARD. In 2009, he was named the Vice President of A&R for BreakSilence and then in late 2010, he left to form Maphia Management, which currently manages over ten international bands, including EYES SET TO KILL.

With Aguilera lending his expertise and guiding them, EYES SET TO KILL has a strong friend and partner in their corner.

"I put out my own records for years as well worked at labels for years and worked at numerous management companies as a manager," Aguilera says. "Unlike most managers, I started out as an artist myself and can relate to other artists. One thing I will never do is forget why I got into this game in the first place, and that's to protect my bands and not take advantage of them. I think in the future, smart management companies are going to start working with their artists more closely outside of just management."

HARDCORE SUPERSTAR To Perform Entire Self-Titled Album At SWEDEN ROCK FESTIVAL
The writers of Sweden Rock Magazine, the country's biggest-selling music magazine, have named HARDCORE SUPERSTAR's eponymously titled album from 2005 the third best album of the last ten years. The CD was also voted the twelfth best album of the past decade by the magazine's readers. To celebrate this, HARDCORE SUPERSTAR will perform the entire LP live for the first time on Wednesday, June 8 at this year's edition of the Sweden Rock Festival in Sölvesborg in southern Sweden.

"When I got the news, I at once wanted to sit down and write such an album again," says HARDCORE SUPERSTAR drummer Magnus "Adde" Andreasson." We were extremely flattered and wondered how to pay back. [So] for the first time [ever we will] play the whole self-titled 'black album' live, as a one-time-only [event] at Sweden Rock Festival. We have, for example, never played [such] songs as 'Simple Man' and 'Cry Your Eyes Out' [live before]."

The 10-year-anniversary June 2011 issue of Sweden Rock Magazine is on sale on June 14.

HARDCORE SUPERSTAR's latest album, "Split Your Lip", was released in Europe on November 26, 2010 via Nuclear Blast Records (except in Scandinavia, where it was made available through Gain Records). The CD's first single, a two-side split featuring the songs "Moonshine" and "Guestlist", was made available in early November exclusively with Sweden Rock Magazine.

"Split Your Lip" was recorded over a five-day period at at Bohus Sound studios in Kungälv, Sweden with producer Tobias Lindell.

HARDCORE SUPERSTAR re-released two of their albums — "Hardcore Superstar" (2005) and "Dreamin In A Casket" (2007) — on October 16, 2009 via Nuclear Blast's "Reloaded Series." Both reissues contain bonus material such as demo tracks and rehearsal takes.

The readers of Sweden Rock Magazine, the country's biggest-selling music magazine, have voted for the 50 greatest albums released in the past 10 years for the publication's 10-year-anniversary issue. The results show that Sweden is truly IRON MAIDEN country. Not only was "A Matter Of Life And Death" named the greatest album of the last decade, "Dance Of Death" came in at No. 2 and last year's "The Final Frontier" landed at No. 5.

"Wow, that's amazing," says IRON MAIDEN bassist Steve Harris. "There have been polls before where we've had albums in top 20 or top 10, but never before top one and two. Three albums in the top five is outrageous."

SEPULTURA will release its new album, "Kairos" (an ancient Greek word signifying a time in between, a moment of undetermined period of time in which something special happens) on June 24 in Europe and July 12 in North America via Nuclear Blast Records. The artwork for the CD was created by Erich Sayers, a Los Angeles-based freelance digital artist and photographer whom SEPULTURA first met at the band's recent concert at the House Of Blues in West Hollywood, California.

SEPULTURA's new CD was recorded at Trama Studios in São Paulo, Brazil with producer Roy Z. (JUDAS PRIEST, HALFORD, BRUCE DICKINSON, HELLOWEEN). 13 tracks were laid down during the sessions, including cover versions of MINISTRY's "Just One Fix" and THE PRODIGY's "Firestarter".

In a recent interview with BLABBERMOUTH.NET, Kisser was asked how the band came up with the "Kairos" title. "The whole theme of the album is the concept of the time, and the title reflects that — it's like one concept of time which is not chronological, from one to two; it's like a an instant in time, it's a special time of change," he replied, before adding, "Everyone's life is written by [their] choices — you have many 'kairos' moments, like if you go [from] point A [to point] B [to point] C, you are driven by your choices or your guidance; you have to go either one way or the other. And that's the kind of time we talked about — not about aging or getting old or going back [in time]; it's just [about those important] moments that can change everything. . .We thought about [that in regards to] SEPULTURA itself — 26 years of history and the moment where we are now; why we're here; why we're doing this album and why we have what we have; the changes we have inside and outside the band. It's a collection of 'kairos' [moments] that [got us] here. It's being inspired by our own biography, but mostly [focusing] on what SEPULTURA is today."

Spring 2011 is barely over and guitarist Slash is already looking ahead to the spring of 2012. The iconic axeman plans to release his next solo album in the spring of next year, exactly two years after his last self-titled solo release.
Slash told PlanetRock.com that he and singer Myles Kennedy, who also sings in a band you may have heard called Alter Bridge, have been writing while on tour. The duo will be go into pre-production mode in June and September so that they are able to release the album in either March or April of next year. Slash and Kennedy are men with a plan and a whole bunch of talent!

METALLICA Is 'THE BEATLES Of Heavy Metal
METALLICA doesn't often grant permission for the use of its songs in movies, making just a handful of exceptions over its nearly 30-year career. But the group likes an upcoming independent feature called "Hesher" enough to let the filmmakers use some of the band's music.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who plays the title character, and co-star Rainn Wilson of "The Office" recently spoke to ARTISTdirect.com about how METALLICA's music factored into the film, with Wilson even calling METALLICA "THE BEATLES of heavy metal." Watch the interview footage below.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt recently admitted he based much of his character's behavior on late METALLICA bassist Cliff Burton, who died when METALLICA's tour bus crashed in Sweden in 1986, and he was stunned when his rock idols recognized the similarities without prompting.

Gordon-Levitt said, "They dug the movie. It was a real honor and I took a lot of inspiration for this character from the basis of some of their early albums, this guy named Cliff Burton, who played on 'Master Of Puppets' and 'Ride The Lightning'. And when the band saw it, they were like, 'You know what?! He reminds us of Cliff,' and we didn't even tell them that's what we were going for. And they let us use their songs and I was actually moved because I grew up headbanging to METALLICA."

"Hesher" arrives on May 13 in theatres. The film also stars recent Oscar winner Natalie Portman.

The movie is a dark comedy-drama about a disturbed young man, played by Levitt, who wreaks havoc in the lives of a boy and his father after the death of the boy's mother.

Gordon-Levitt previously said about the "Hesher" film "I loved making this movie, and I love how it turned out. It's hilarious, but it's not just funny, it's smart, it's sad, it's hopeful, it's heartfelt, and it fuckin' rocks . . . And, I'm humbled to say, METALLICA themselves liked it so much they gave us their music, they never give their stuff to movies!"

The film's title on all its advertising and marketing materials is done in the style of the METALLICA logo.

METALLICA songs have been used in documentaries like "Paradise Lost: The Child Murders At Robin Hood Hills" and "Absent", and the occasional feature film like "Zombieland".

Former MEGADETH/KING DIAMOND guitarist Glen Drover will release a solo single, "Ground Zero", on March 21 through Magna Carta Records. The label will press a very limited amount of CD copies, which will be available through Amazon.com. This single will also feature a alternate version of the song, which contains different solos from Glen and Jim Gilmour (keyboards), as well as a different mix.

"Ground Zero" is the first single from Drover's recently completed debut solo album, "Metalusion", which will be released on April 5 via Magna Carta Records.

Writing on his newly launched official Facebook page, Drover states, "In December of 2007, I made one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make in my life, which was to leave the band MEGADETH — a band that I had worked very hard with and helped bring back from the dead. Although I am very happy about what we accomplished in the four-year period I was in the band, things had changed quite a bit towards the end of my time with MEGADETH, and not necessarily for the better for me, so I handed in my resignation, so to speak.

"Shortly after a nice long break, I decided to start recording again, but wanted to try something different, which was to form a band and play all instrumental music — a task that would not be easy and would become something very challenging and fun, of course! A combination of metal, harder edge jazz fusion and prog. I contacted Chris Sutherland and shared this idea with him and he was very excited about this possibility. At that point, he recommended a friend of his to play bass, Paul Yee, and also recommended Jim Gilmour from the prog rock band SAGA, which Chris had played with for a short while.

"Not knowing how this set of musicians would sound like together, I though it would be a good idea to record three tracks — one Al Dimeola track, as well as two tracks from the awesome Jean Luc Ponty.

"I'm not sure if any of us really knew how well any of these tracks would turn out, Not knowing if we would jell properly, etc..Well, we could not be happier! That is what set the pace and the start of what I consider to be a great band of guys who are on the same page and very excited and driven to write and play the best we can.. and have fun doing things 'our way' and not following any trends!!

"This new album, coming out in the early 2011 is going to be called 'Metalusion' and was recorded sporadically over a 2-plus-year period.

"As an engineer, I worked very hard to make this album the very best production I can deliver to date! I am also very happy and honored to be playing with musicians of a very high level, as well as good people. It's something I always wanted to do and it's not something you find at the corner store. Believe me, I know.

"I hope you enjoy this album as much as we do."

1Brazilian/American thrashers SEPULTURA have finished recording their new album at Trama Studios in São Paulo, Brazil with producer Roy Z. (JUDAS PRIEST, HALFORD, BRUCE DICKINSON, HELLOWEEN). 13 tracks were laid down during the sessions for the new CD, including cover versions of MINISTRY's "Just One Fix" and THE PRODIGY's "Firestarter", both of which are expected to be made available as bonus tracks on various special-edition releases. The band has yet to reveal the title for the album, which is said to contain some of SEPULTURA's most personal lyrics to date. Among the songs that will appear on the effort is "Born Strong", the subject matter of which is said to deal with balancing road life with raising a family as well as the bandmembers' experiences as musicians and as people.

SEPULTURA's new album is tentatively due in May via Nuclear Blast Records.

The band debuted a brand new song from the upcoming CD during an October 17, 2010 appearance at the Fúria Festival at HSBC Brasil in São Paulo.

SEPULTURA will return to North America for a massive headlining tour next April/May in support of their upcoming Nuclear Blast Records debut. Joining them will be a veritable united nations on metal in the form of Austria's BELPHEGOR, Norway's KEEP OF KALESSIN, Poland's HATE, Canada's NEURAXIS, and California's BONDED BY BLOOD. Starting May 23, Seattle's own NEVERMORE will replace BELPHEGOR to finish out the tour.

"Overlord", a brand new song from Colorado power metallers JAG PANZER, can be streamed using the audio player below (courtesy of AOL's Noisecreep). The track comes off the band's new album, "Scourge Of The Light", which was released on February 28 in Europe (except in Germany, where it will arrive three days earlier) and will be made avaialble on March 8 in the U.S. via SPV/Steamhammer Records. In addition to the regular CD version, the effort will be made available as a double-vinyl set.

For the original band members Harry Conklin (vocals), Mark Briody (guitar) and John Tetley (bass), JAG PANZER has always been something they held close to their hearts. "We've known each other from our earliest childhood and have never lost sight of the idea that this band is based on," Tetley explains. "I don't exactly want to use the term 'spiritual', but the three of us are connected with this band by a very special relationship. You could say that our lives are inseparably linked with the history of JAG PANZER."

This heartfelt passion has always been apparent in their songs, however: the American band has never sounded as impressive, mature and accomplished as on their latest album, "The Scourge Of The Light".

The reasons? Well, there are probably a number of them. Without a doubt, the band's two main songwriters, guitarists Mark Briody and Christian Lasegue, have never been in better form. Every one of their extremely dynamic riffs sounds haunting, every melody cuts their listeners to the core. It may sound like a contradiction, but since guitarist Chris Broderick, who was a bandmember between 1997 and 2007, left to join MEGADETH, JAG PANZER have returned to their old roots. "There can be no question that Chris Broderick is an amazing guitarist, and we were really happy for him that he got this chance with MEGADETH. But we feel that thanks to Christian Lasegue, JAG PANZER's classic, clearly more melodic power metal style has returned and that the fans will definitely be happy about this." Tetley may well be right since JAG PANZER's most recent studio recording "Casting The Stones" (2004) was criticized, especially in Europe, for its noticeably harsher direction. "We knew that Christian was the best man for the job; after all he was a band member for three years in the mid-1980s," the band says.

But there are other reasons, too, why "The Scourge Of The Light" sounds so impressive. Despite their limited production budget, JAG PANZER spared no expense or effort to give their ten fantastic new songs a driving their trademark sound. For this reason, they asked Jim Morris to mix the recordings at his legendary Morrisound Studios in Florida and sent the result to New York's renowned Sterling Sound for mastering. The result is a real ear catcher, without any ifs and buts.

"I feel 'The Scourge Of The Light' is the best-sounding album in the history of JAG PANZER," Tetley says.

SKID ROW bassist Rachel Bolan tells Times-Standard.com that he and guitarist Dave "Snake" Sabo have been writing some music and gearing up to hit the studio again for the band's sixth album.

"I think the next record, as far as what Snake and I are writing, is going back to what people would expect from SKID ROW," Bolan said. "We're looking forward to it."

SKID ROW last year parted ways with drummer Dave Gara and has replaced him with Atlanta native Rob Hammersmith.

Rob spent many years touring and recording with Atlanta-based rockers ROCKETS TO RUIN and has performed with GUNFIRE 76, the band featuring MURDERDOLLS frontman Wednesday 13.

SKID ROW's latest album, "Revolutions Per Minute", was released on October 24, 2006 via SPV Records. The follow-up to 2003's "ThickSkin" was recorded at WireWorld studio in Nashville, Tennessee with Michael Wagener, who previously worked with the band on their two most commercially successful albums to date, "Skid Row" (1989) and "Slave to the Grind" (1991).

Although everybody seems to have a different account of who came first in the world of New York/New Jersey area thrash metal, it seems certain that New Jersey’s Overkill have stayed around the longest, and have never let their fans down by remaining musically consistent and true to their roots for over 20 years and an unprecedented 14 full length albums. By 1987’s Taking Over, the band had worked their way up to a deal with Atlantic Records. This relationship would last another 7 years based on the strength and consistency of Overkill’s music.
1988’s Under The Influence and 1989’s The Years Of Decay represent Overkill in their prime. Sid Falck would replace Rat Skates on drums to bring his own brutal percussive assault to Verni’s already powerful rhythm section. The band had already established a rabid fan base with songs like “Rotten To The Core” and “Hammerhead” (as well as their infamous cover of D.O.A.’s “Fuck You”), and new songs like “Evil Never Dies” and “Hello From The Gutter” would become Overkill mainstays as well. A video for “Hello From The Gutter” was garnering much fan response when it received play on MTV’s “Headbangers Ball”. 1994’s W.F.O. would be Overkill’s final album with Atlantic, as they would release their first official full-length live assault, Wrecking Your Neck on CMC in 1995. 1996-1999 would see Overkill release 3 more full length albums (Killing Kind, From The Underground and Below, and Necroshine). In 2000, Overkill released Bloodletting on Metal-Is, adding guitarist Dave Linsk to the fray. DOWN 2007 BIO Most typical southern band bios start with the cliché and overused phrase "from the murky swamps" or "bayou born and bred". AS I LAY DYING Guitarist: 'My Beliefs Don't Have Anything To Do With How I Play Guitar' - onlymusicblog

Emma Changose of Northern Arizona News recently conducted an interview with guitarist Nick Hipa of San Diego, California metallers AS I LAY DYING. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

Northern Arizona News: So, this month is actually the band's 10-year anniversary, correct?

Nick: Yeah, well like, this whole year is like a 10-year anniversary of the band. Maybe it is this month in particular that is more of a specific date.

Northern Arizona News: How have you celebrated?

Nick: Well, we haven't really made any official announcements yet or anything, but we did record a couple songs in the beginning of January with the intent of them being on some sort of EP that commemorates the longevity of the band up until this point. So, I don't know if that means we are going to put out a ten-year EP sometime soon, but it makes the most sense for us to do it for that. But that's just all in the works for right now; nothing for sure yet.

Northern Arizona News: How does your religion influence your music?

Nick: It has nothing to do with my playing or music, at least for me. I'm just a guitar player like any other dude who is in a pop-rock band or a black metal band. I play guitar because I love it and I love music. My beliefs don't have anything to do with how I play guitar.

Northern Arizona News: Do you guys ever get criticized by your fans for being Christians, but using symbols such as skulls and death in many of your logos and merchandise?

Nick: Um, no, not really. I think sometimes the media wants to focus more on the Christian aspect of the band, when we concentrate more on just the fact that we are a normal band who plays shows just like everyone else. I feel like for most fans of heavy metal music, it just fits. I don't want to say that we are just doing what we are supposed to be doing, but I think the imagery is a pretty accurate visual description of the band. It just fits.

Northern Arizona News: AS I LAY DYING has accomplished a lot - Grammy nominations, playing in huge tours like Ozzfest, and touring internationally - is there anything you haven't done yet that you would really like to do?

Nick: You know, I think I would just like to go to even more countries than we've already been to. We've been so lucky and fortunate to travel to parts of the world that I thought I would never get to see, and if we can just keep on doing that and expanding on that, I would be stoked. Or even going back to some of those places [that we've been to before]. Like, we've never done China or Africa yet. Just being able to go to some of those places would be exciting for me. And then, aside from that, a METALLICA tour. They're one of the only bands that we haven't toured with yet. Maybe we can put that on the list of things that would be awesome for us to do.

the new SEPULTURA album

SEPULTURA has tapped Roy Z. (JUDAS PRIEST, HALFORD, BRUCE DICKINSON, HELLOWEEN) to produce the group's next CD, tentatively due in May via Nuclear Blast Records.

SEPULTURA debuted a brand new song from its upcoming album during its October 17, 2010 appearance at the Fúria Festival at HSBC Brasil in São Paulo.

SEPULTURA performed its classic 1991 album, "Arise", in its entirety during the group's headlining performance at the 16-year anniversary of the Manifesto Bar in São Paulo, Brazil on December 11, 2010.

SEPULTURA will return to North America for a massive headlining tour next April/May in support of their upcoming Nuclear Blast Records debut. Joining them will be a veritable united nations on metal in the form of Austria's BELPHEGOR, Norway's KEEP OF KALESSIN, Poland's HATE, Canada's NEURAXIS, and California's BONDED BY BLOOD. Starting May 23, Seattle's own NEVERMORE will replace BELPHEGOR to finish out the tour.

SOULDRAINER Completes Recording New Album -

Swedish death metallers SOULDRAINER have finished recording their sophomore album at Empire Studio for a late 2011 release. According to the band, 13 songs were laid down for the as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2007's "Reborn", which will be mixed during the coming weeks.

SOULDRAINER previously decribed the new material as "beautiful, evil, slightly more aggressive and heavier" than that on "Reborn". The band added, "Prepare for an epic death/doom album so heavy it will blow your face off."

In May 2008, SOULDRAINER announced its split with Mascot Records, the label which released "Reborn".

"Reborn" was recorded by SOULDRAINER and Marcus Edvardsson at Manic Motion Studio and was mixed and mastered by Marcus Edvardsson. The layout and artwork was handled by Daniel Dlimi.

ADLER'S APPETITE in December released two new singles — "Stardog" and "Fading" — via iTunes and other online music stores.

ADLER'S APPETITE entered the studio in November to begin recording its new album with CINDERELLA drummer Fred Coury producing.

"I am really proud of the new songs," said Adler. "Fred did a great job on these tracks, we are really looking forward to playing this stuff live!"

"We are really happy with the way these songs came out," added ADLER'S APPETITE guitarist Alex Grossi (also of QUIET RIOT). "I think people who liked [previous single] 'Alive' are really going to dig 'Stardog' and the song 'Fading' shows a mellower side of the band's songwriting, I cannot wait to finish up the entire record."

NEURAXIS vocalist Alex Leblanc commented on the decision to title the album "Asylon": "'Asylum' is the first song I wrote for the album. It opened up a ton of ideas for all the other ones. After I was done writing all the lyrics, I was looking for the word asylum in Latin. I realized it did not exist but it did in ancient Greek. The word 'asylon' had a deeper meaning so it was more fitting to use it to globalize the whole mood/concept of the album."

NEURAXIS will support SEPULTURA on a spring North American headlining tour. In addition, NEURAXIS will hit the road with death metal masters DEICIDE in February and March.

Strange title, right? By now you've probably heard the explanation as to why NEURAXIS didn't go with "Asylum" as the album title because of that whole thing with kindred spirits (just kidding) DISTURBED releasing an album last year with that same name. Or maybe I dreamt that and it was the band's choice to use the ancient Greek word for "asylum" that is a more palatable explanation. Does it even matter? Among the leaders of the fertile Montreal modern death scene, NEURAXIS have crafted another technically competent and adroitly written album, the occasional bit of sluggishness notwithstanding. It does not however impact in quite the same way as its predecessors.

Interestingly enough, "Asylon" makes NEURAXIS sound more like the Canadian version of SUFFOCATION, what with all that serrated riffing and the throaty vocals of Alex LeBlanc, which make him sound quite similar to Frank Mullen. In fact, it is LeBlanc's vocals that can sometimes have a flattening effect on these otherwise dynamic arrangements, though that really doesn't become as noticeable until after you've reached somewhere around the halfway point of the album.

No reason to continue with that constipated look over the aforementioned comparison, as "Asylon" is still the kind of staccato blasted, tech-y death for which Quebec is known. The splashes of melody and relative amount of compositional variety set it apart from some of NEURAXIS' brutal death brethren. That is no more evident than on the excellent title, one that ends up being more memorable than is typical because of the wise, though restrained, injection of melody. "By The Flesh" works for much the same way, though more in the way its chorus grabs and pulls than for any overt tunefulness. When it comes to primal rage it is "V" that takes the cake; it is in no uncertain terms a mofo of beastly proportions. And since this is a NEURAXIS album, there are plenty of cool little angularities and sideways nuances present as well.

Admittedly, I find "Asylon" to be less gripping in comparison to albums like "The Thin Line Between" and "Trilateral Progression", some of which may be due to the vocals, which I should stress are not a problem in any serious sense. Maybe it has more to do with the manner in which the patterns/delivery interacted with my tinnitus, causing me to focus less on the song dynamics. Whatever the case, "Asylon" seems more workmanlike than brilliant this time around, but that still makes it better than many albums of this type.

MONSTER MAGNET: 'I Wanted To Make A Record That Was Minimal And That Will Play Well Live'

KTVU.com: It seems like the last couple of records you did leaned more towards straight-ahead hard rock, but this new album definitely embraces the psychedelic sound of MONSTER MAGNET's early material. Was that a conscious decision to return to your space-rock roots, or did the songs just naturally move in that direction?
Mastermind (Limited Edition)
Dave Wyndorf: It was definitely a conscious decision to go back. I try stuff, you know? I don't mind going into all the different kinds of music I like, but if I make one record that's a space-rock record, I don't want the next record to be another space-rock record. So the reason that the record sounds different is because this time I definitely looked back and realized it had been a long time since I'd done that. Because we play the stuff live all the time. It's not like I don't play space rock; I play space rock every night [laughs]. But I realized I hadn't put it down. I was like, "You know, we haven't gone and done this kind of stuff with new material in a long time. I want to go back." So that's exactly what it was. I made a decision to do that. There was a couple of other things too. I wanted to make a record that was minimal — as far as the tracks were concerned — and that will play well live.
Space Lord [Explicit]
KTVU.com: It's minimal in some ways, but it also has that really spacious sound with the layers of guitars and effects on your vocals...

Dave Wyndorf: Well, yeah, I can say minimal, but once you go in it's hard not to start fucking around. I mean every record I've ever made could have gone completely over the cliff and turned into a space-rock album. A lot of the delays and stuff I'll actually track on a guitar track, so there will be alternative guitar takes that are drenched in delay that I may not use at the end because it's just too wet. And if I really wanted to go total space rock, I could always pile on the effects during the mix. But I wanted to get a nice balance on this one, because I like songs too. With the space rock thing, something totally drenched in space rock, that should be a dedicated project all unto its own. I don't think it should be just a couple songs here and there. And that's going to come out. I actually going to make a full-on space rock record probably sometime next year.

KTVU.com: So something more along the lines of the "Tab" EP?

Dave Wyndorf: Yeah, kind of like that, but probably more driving. There will probably be more songs. It won't just be one 30-minute song and three shorter songs, but it will be very close to that kind of vibe. I'm going to do it fast and lo fi and a lot of the effects will be played live rather than after the fact.

KTVU.com: That leads me to ask you about the announcement of your own label — Studio 13 — that I saw on the MONSTER MAGNET web site. I immediately thought of it being a parallel to the kind of thing Josh Homme has done with the Desert Sessions recordings he released in addition to proper QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE albums. Are you going to use it for a chance to stretch out without the commercial expectations you have with a MONSTER MAGNET album?

Dave Wyndorf: Absolutely. It's a place for me to go to do stuff with different members of MONSTER MAGNET and special guest stars where we don't have to worry so much about scheduling the way you do when you're making one big long record. And we can do it on our own time and I can write, produce and overdub on my own time in a lo-fi manner so its not a big headache. And we can do the kind of material that wouldn't always show up on a proper MONSTER MAGNET record: weird space rock, space rock proper, dirges, garage rock. A lot of garage psych. That kind of stuff. It's a really great thing for me, because I've got all this material hanging around out there. I'm writing a lot and it's way more than I'm ever going to get to if I keep waiting for it to be on proper MONSTER MAGNET records.

“Named after a glyph from Robert Chambers's book "The King In Yellow" have the five men of The Yellow Sign from the beautiful Michigan. Musically, they moved here in Deathcore area on a variety of progressive and technical, who find themselves in an interesting sound that is not yet have any new revolution, however, by experimental passages definitely a certain something. The EP "Ancient" is distinguished not by the beautiful melodies and absolutely innovative, new type of songwriting, but rather by an oppressive atmosphere, a steadily rising tension and clever riffs that just the right moment with a cold feeling of goose bumps over the handset away run. For example, halfway through the opener "Silence" thunders still just pushing double bass attacks and rhythm into it riffs on the handset, which then ripped the next moment, a small number of guitar sounds with the more effective action to generate a cold atmosphere. A similar situation exists with the title song "Ancient" which starts with massive breakdown riffs, constant pressure builds up, which then explodes in a poignant sound storm, which resulted especially from the epic guitar work out. A similar style of this epic sound that arises from the fact that they repeated in quick succession strikes a tone that can also be found in the following song "Heretic", the songwriting is built completely different than its predecessor, so can be found no trace of boredom. In addition, the song white with clever tempo changes from snare blasts up to the slow double bass outro the listener to win over. For the instrumental "Carcosa" is a soundtrack-like piece that voluminous, delivers cleverly staged in drumming on the toms and a perfect blend of acoustic and electronic guitars. Apart from all these subtleties and refinements can be found at The Yellow Sign, however, without more well-known effects such as the breakdown again, which is mainly used in the final song "Juggernaut" feeder and put almost the entire second half of this song into an uncomfortable, oppressive atmosphere. The Yellow Sign Deathcore have not reinvented, but without question, make a very solid work and not be afraid to experiment at times. The epic guitar sound, he knows just when to convince the hit "Ancient" which is reminiscent of the gentlemen of The Contortionist, which seem so dreadful-sounding melody and the brutality is more usually used by Oceano or Impending Doom to come. These five men know their job and do it damn well, brutal breakdowns and furious vocals with poignant atmosphere and slight post-rock influences combine - just listen to the best times, then buy from iTunes or in the tape store. As the death metal genre continues to explode, Knoxville’s Whitechapel stand bloody head and bruised shoulders above the pack. With a ruthlessly brutal aural assault built upon merciless blastbeats and spine-destroying breakdowns, their three guitarists deliver immense riffs and monstrous leads while vocalist Phil Bozeman vomits out lyrics that avoid clichés and give fans something to think about as they scream them back. Basically stated, this is as shit-your-pants exhilarating as modern metal gets.

Formed in 2006, it did not take local metal fans long to realize that they had something very special going on in their midst. “We went from fifty of our friends coming to our shows to two hundred people coming out inside of six months,” guitarist Alex Wade states. “We’ve always held ourselves to a certain level of professionalism, we worked our asses off, and I think we definitely offered something that a lot of bands in the scene did not.”

Building such momentum, it is unsurprising that the sextet – rounded out by guitarists Ben Savage and Zach Householder, bassist Gabe Crisp, and drummer Kevin Lane – soon found themselves courted by record labels, signing to the UK’s Siege Of Amida, for their 2007 debut, The Somatic Defilement (with Candlelight handling the US release). Hitting the road hard, both their profile and army of fans grew rapidly. Inside of a year, they were signed by Metal Blade following an intense bidding war between eight labels hungry to add the Tennessee wrecking crew to their roster, and the band immediately set about working on their second album, the titanic This Is Exile.

A quantum leap forward in terms of song writing and focused vitriol, This Is Exile threw a gauntlet down to all others trying to crowd into the genre alongside them. Admitting that the lyrical content on The Somatic Defilement was limited to “typical brutal death metal stuff – songs about evil ways to kill people and that kind of thing”, Bozeman approached This Is Exile in a far more cerebral manner, uniting the songs through a core concept. “The record was a lot more about the kind of evil that actually exists in the world,” the vocalist states. “It was about three specific people who hunger after power, which leads them to starting a diabolical war that ends the world. I was really proud of it, because it had a lot more feeling and maturity about it, and it gave people something a little different.”

Remember the time when every Radiohead album felt like a revelation? When you were sure that the band, with each of its albums, was going to go where no band ever had gone before?

It’s not that time anymore.

The British quintet’s new album, “The King of Limbs,” isn’t bad. It’s even gorgeous at times. But it’s too familiar-sounding to qualify as an unmitigated success.

The skittering beats. The mysteriously yearning and often unintelligible vocals. The atmospheric, dread-inducing soundscapes. The lack of traditional song structure. Radiohead has covered this territory before, and merely offers variations on it here.

“Wait,” at least some of you are saying to yourselves. “Radiohead has a new album?” Yes they do — something of a stealth release, by music industry standards.

On Monday — the morning after the Grammy Awards, when most of the music press’ attention was turned elsewhere — the band announced that it would be putting out this digital release today (for $9 in MP3 format, $14 in WAV, not determine-your-own-price, as it did for “In Rainbows” in 2007). Then it released the album a day early — yesterday — via thekingoflimbs.com. The reason for moving up, according to a press release, was that the website was ready, so there was no reason to wait.

CD and vinyl versions will be available March 29, with a deluxe edition out in May.

Opener “Bloom” starts with a churning beat and something of a slogan (“Open your mouth wide,” sings frontman Thom Yorke, elongating the last word for emphasis). Then it, well, blooms, turning into a calmly floating jam. “Codex” travels a similar path, starting as a stately piano ballad, then veering off into outer space.

“Feral” is strikingly abstract (even for a Radiohead song) all the way through — just murmurs and sighs over a relentless beat. Yet there is plenty of old-fashioned melodic appeal in delicately constructed songs such as “Give Up the Ghost,” “Separator” and lead single “Lotus Flower."

“It’s like I’m falling out of bed/From a long, weary dream,” sings Yorke at the start of “Separator.” Toward the end of the track, he sings “Wake me up,” repeatedly. Indeed, there’s something sleepy about “The King of Limbs” in general: the murky, foggy textures, the surreal, dreamlike segues, the gentleness of the ballads.

This is one of the prettiest and most melodically appealing albums that Radiohead — a major contender for the title of Greatest Rock Band of its Generation — ever has released. It just doesn’t pack the wallop of its late 1990s and early 2000s breakthroughs.

The brevity of “The King of Limbs” — it offers just eight tracks and lasts a mere 37 minutes — adds to the sense that it was not intended as a major statement. It feels more like an EP, meant to bide time between more ambitious works.

No wonder the band declined to make a big deal about its release.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD kicked off the "Nightmare After Christmas" tour on January 20 in Reading, Pennsylvania. The show marked AVENGED's live debut with Arin Ilejay, formerly the drummer for Los Angeles-based Christian rock group CONFIDE, who is sitting behind the kit for AVENGED's upcoming tour dates.

The relatively unknown Ilejay is the second drummer to play with AVENGED SEVENFOLD following the December 2009 death of original drummer James "The Rev" Sullivan. The band recruited ex-DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy to play on its latest album, "Nightmare", and all its 2010 tour dates before dismissing him at the end of the year.

Ilejay played on CONFIDE's 2008 debut album, "Shout The Truth", and appeared on tour with the group.

Sullivan was found dead in his Huntington Beach, California home at the age of 28. His death was attributed to a lethal combination of prescription drugs and alcohol.

The latest single from "Nightmare", which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart last summer, is "Welcome To The Family".

"What If…" was released in North America on February 15. The effort was made available in a special edition CD + DVD in digipak, regular CD, vinyl and digital download and in a limited edition luxury box including the CD, DVD, LP and exclusive memorabilia. The DVD includes videos of "Undertow" and "All The Way Up" plus a documentary "making of" the album, including interviews and exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of the four band members.

MR. BIG will play its first U.S. show in more than 14 years on April 2 at the House Of Blues in West Hollywood, California. More U.S. tour dates will be announced later this year.

"What If…" is MR. BIG's first "all-original" album since the reunion of the four original members, Eric Martin, Paul Gilbert, Billy Sheehan and Pat Torpey, back in early 2009. Sixteen years after the release of "Hey Man", the new recording is set to bring back MR. BIG on the height of the current hard rock scene.

"What If…" was produced by Kevin Shirley (AEROSMITH, RUSH, IRON MAIDEN) and the release will be followed by a world tour which will kick off in South America in March and will hit Europe in early summer.

BIOHAZARD Frontman : New Album Is 'So Singalong-Able And Brutal At The Same Time' - Feb. 2, 2011

In a brand new interview with Inked magazine, BIOHAZARD bassist/vocalist Evan Seinfeld was asked about the sound of the band's forthcoming tenth studio album, tentatively due this spring via Nuclear Blast Records.

"The snare drum sounds like a fucking .45 automatic in a cement room. It sounds so nasty and abrasive," he said.

"The album is very metallic. It's all tuned down to C and is heavy, heavy.

"I've always wanted to make an album with a big metal sound. We always got caught up — not me personally, but the other guys — in doing that hardcore thing. And hardcore sounds like shit on purpose.

"The new BIOHAZARD album is so fucking heavy and so good. It's so singalong-able and brutal at the same time. But I don't think it's going to get a fair shake.

"My producer and my manager think if the album was released under a different name, like a brand-new band name, it would probably have 10 times the commercial success. The real fans are going to love it."

The follow-up to 2005's "Means To An End", BIOHAZARD's new CD is being produced by Toby Wright, who has previously worked with KORN, SLAYER, MÖTLEY CRÜE, KISS, FEAR FACTORY, IN FLAMES, STONE SOUR and OZZY OSBOURNE, among others. Songtitles set to appear on the album include "Decay", "Screaming For Change" and "Vengeance Is Mine", the latter of which the band debuted during its 2009 European tour.

BIOHAZARD's new album marks the first time the four original members — Evan Seinfeld (vocals, bass), Billy Graziadei (guitar, vocals), Danny Schuler (drums) and Bobby Hambel (guitar) — have recorded together since 1994's breakthrough CD "State Of The World Address".

Hatebreed are a hardcore band from Bridgeport and New Haven, Connecticut. The band
was founded in November 1994 by Jamey Jasta, Dave Russo, Larry Dwyer, and Chris Beattie.
Hatebreed’s sound can be classified as metallic hardcore, they are influenced by death and
groove metal and their sound has heavily influenced many modern metalcore, hardcore and
crossover bands.

They began by recording a three song demo and selling it to locals. Those three songs would
eventually be released on a split seven inch with New York’s Neglect in 1995. They followed
that up with the highly acclaimed EP Under the Knife in 1996, and the following year released
Satisfaction is the Death of Desire on Victory Records, then the home of some of the biggest
bands in metalcore. Satisfaction sold more copies than any other debut in the history of the
record company.

A constant touring schedule pushed them beyond the boundaries of the hardcore punk scene,
and tours with national metal bands such as Slayer, Deftones, Entombed and Napalm Death
brought them to the attention of many non-hardcore/metalcore fans. These influences were
apparent on the band’s next two releases, 2002’s Perseverance, and especially 2003’s The Rise
of Brutality.

After the release of The Rise of Brutality, the band took part in the 2004 Unholy Alliance tour
in Europe with Slayer, Slipknot and Mastodon. In June, 2006, Hatebreed went on an extensive
European tour which included a performance at the Download Festival in Donnington, UK.
Immediately following this European tour, they played the main stage at Ozzfest 2006 alongside DragonForce, Lacuna Coil, Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed, and co-headliners System of a Down.

The band’s next album, Supremacy, was released in August, 2006, their first through Roadrunner
Records, featuring new guitarist Frank Novinec (who had previously spent time playing with
Ringworm, Terror, and Integrity). Jasta described it as an “all-out onslaught of completely
adrenaline-charged, in-your-face brutality”.

Hatebreed still maintains tight connections to the hardcore community, evidenced by the lineup
for
the their 10 year anniversary show at Toad’s Place on November 25 and November 26, 2005
in New Haven: Neglect, One 4 One, Irate, and reunions by All Out War and Skarhead.

On September 13, 2006, former guitarist Lou “Boulder” Richards committed suicide at the age
of 35. Richards played on 1997’s Satisfaction Is The Death Of Desire and 2002’s Perseverance
before leaving the band later that year. Jasta issued the following statement regarding Richards’
passing:
“ As many of you may have heard, and we were sorry to learn, our former guitar player Lou
“Boulder” Richards passed away yesterday. It is very unfortunate that he could not see any other
way to conquer his demons. We hope he has finally found some peace. Our hearts go out to Vera
and his family and friends. ”

Hatebreed headlined the second stage on the 2007 Ozzfest tour.

Jamey Jasta confirmed that Hatebreed is working on a new album in an interview shown during the Headbanger’s Ball.

Hatebreed also released a concert DVD titled “Live Dominance” on September 2, 2008, The
next Hatebreed album “For the Lions” was an cover album. Artists covered will include Metallica,
D.R.I., Crowbar, and the Cro-Mags.

Hatebreed appeared at Wacken Open Air festival in 2008 alongside Iron Maiden,
Children of Bodom, and Avantasia.

In April 2008, Hatebreed signed a worldwide deal with Koch Records for the release of
their live DVD, a live album, and a cover album entitled “For The Lions” releasing May 5.

February 9, 2009 Guitarist Sean Martin quit the band. Jamey Jasta said the following, “I speak
on behalf of all of us and we support Sean’s decision to leave and want him to be happy and
successful at everything he does. There are no bad feelings at all and you’ll probably see him
hanging on stage at some of our local shows. We’re family and he will be missed but Hatebreed
will forge on.” Sean Martin added, “After 10 years, I’ve decided to leave Hatebreed. This in no
way reflects my personal relationship with Jamey, Chris, Matt and Frank; they’re four of my
closest friends and I’ll always love them with all my heart. I want to thank all of the fans as well as
the guys in the band and crew, past and present, for giving me some of the best times of my life.”

Hatebreed’s latest studio album “Hatebreed” was released September 29, 2009.
