AVENGED SEVENFOLD kicked off the "Nightmare After Christmas" tour on January 20 in Reading, Pennsylvania. The show marked AVENGED's live debut with Arin Ilejay, formerly the drummer for Los Angeles-based Christian rock group CONFIDE, who is sitting behind the kit for AVENGED's upcoming tour dates.

The relatively unknown Ilejay is the second drummer to play with AVENGED SEVENFOLD following the December 2009 death of original drummer James "The Rev" Sullivan. The band recruited ex-DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy to play on its latest album, "Nightmare", and all its 2010 tour dates before dismissing him at the end of the year.

Ilejay played on CONFIDE's 2008 debut album, "Shout The Truth", and appeared on tour with the group.

Sullivan was found dead in his Huntington Beach, California home at the age of 28. His death was attributed to a lethal combination of prescription drugs and alcohol.

The latest single from "Nightmare", which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart last summer, is "Welcome To The Family".

The Pulse of Radio repors that AVENGED SEVENFOLD had a lot to celebrate this past week its new album, "Nightmare", hitting No. 1 — marking the band's highest-charting debut. The success has likely been bittersweet for AVENGED SEVENFOLD, having lost drummer Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan just last December due to an accidental drug overdose. The guys have since tried to pick up the pieces after his death, eventually tapping Mike Portnoy of DREAM THEATER to not only play on the new album, but also tour with the band this year.

AVENGED frontman M. Shadows tells The Pulse of Radio some more about playing with Portnoy. "Mike is so full of life," he said. "He's such a great guy. You know, he's the leader of DREAM THEATER, so I think it's fun for him to get to sit back and, like, you know, he just gets to play the drums and not worry about things and he's having a good time with it. And then it's a new adventure for us and, you know, that's what it's gonna be. It's never gonna be the same and we're not trying to make it the same. We're just trying to do the best we can and Mike's doing a hell of a job and we're really excited about that."

"Nightmare", the fifth album from Orange County, California's AVENGED SEVENFOLD, sold 162,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at the top of The Billboard 200 chart.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD's self-titled fourth album opened with 94,000 units back in November 2007, nearly three times what its 2005 effort, "City of Evil", sold in its biggest week on the chart.

The official video for "Nightmare", the album's first single and title track, premiered on MTV2, MTV.com, and MTV2.com on July 17 and became the second most popular video on YouTube, racking up more than 1,280,865 views in its first week. The "lyric" video that premiered via YouTube has racked up three million views.

"Nightmare" was completed after the death of drummer Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan, who passed away last December following an overdose of prescription drugs and alcohol. Guitarist Zacky Vengeance told The Pulse of Radio how the band got through the making of the record after losing their friend. "You know, you carry on knowing that there's something so much more important than yourself to deliver, to millions of fans across the world, to all your friends, and to yourself," he said. "To put out this piece of music that he helped write with us is extremely, extremely difficult and I don't wish it on anybody. But I think the end result is even that much more spectacular because it brought us all closer and we did, you know, him justice."

The band recruited DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy to play on the new album and all the band's 2010 tour dates.

Portnoy made his concert debut with the band on July 25 as they played live for the first time since Sullivan's death at the Heavy MTL festival in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

"Nightmare" was the No. 1 most added track at Active Rock radio in the United States one week last month. On the band's official web site, "Nightmare" premiered via a YouTube "lyric" Video that received over 275,000 plays in 24 hours.

Few leaks about the new album a7x. This album is more to the genre of alternative and soft rock, this is probably due to the Mat Shadow who can not scream anymore. And also they want to repeat the success as in the song Dear God who skyrocketed. But still carrying the metalcore genre. Well let's say this genre crossover.

Songs that have been slightly leaked the Unwind The Chainsaw. Warner Bross own party are still secretive about this song. So when you see it on youtube vidoe there was a big mistake. Mat sound very different from the same Shadow, although his guitar sound like Synyster. So, do not ketipu!

I realize That with the last record We personally stayed Away From updating you guys with loads of information about how We Were doing and about how the tours Were going. We stayed away from doing too many interviews, radio and TV spots, trying not to overexpose Ourselves. Not seeing Ourselves everywhere and hearing about stupid shit Generally we've said has made us happier people, much unlike the "City of Evil" record cycle. But I feel in doing so We have stopped Communicating with the people That Truly care about this band, the fans. So I'm gonna try to make These updates a little more frequently.

First I want to say We had a great time touring this record. From the first tour in clubs, to headlining "Taste of Chaos", to going out with Iron Maiden in Europe, to finishing it up with Buckcherry, Papa Roach, Burn Halo, Shinedown, Saving Abel and Rev Theory. Some we've made great new friends and just had a great time playing to you guys Every night. Rock on the Range, and opening for Metallica in Mexico City Bonuses Were just added. We are gonna start rehearsing here in a couple days to get ready for Sonisphere over in the UK and Ireland. We are looking forward to that '.

We have been relaxing after Almost 20 months of straight touring, but We Also have been Throwing around a lot of ideas for the new album. I think after We get back from the UK We Will be Able to fully get into this writing process. I'd hate to say more and start speculation and rumors this early in the process so thats all I'll say about the albums. Time flies and you'll have a new record on your ipod before you know it, so be patient.

Since we've been home I've been working on a song with Slash for his solo albums. It's a killer track and he plays Some of the most technical stuff I've ever Heard from him ".

But since it's his record and not mine, more updates will from have to come from him ". "Waking the Fallen" WENT gold today and though We do not talk much about record sales, this feels like a huge accomplishment. That record sold 3.000 copies the first week and is now well over 500 000 copies. Pls music in a day is virtually free, its a huge testament to the fans and the Dedication We have customers they want have given us for 10 years. Thanks guys and girls, We look forward to 10 more!
