SEBASTIAN BACH 'Hangs' With 'American Idol' Finalist JAMES DURBIN

onlymusic, download music,Former SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach on Monday (June 13) got a chance to "hang" with James Durbin — the 22-year-old rocker from Santa Cruz, California, who was eliminated from "American Idol" last month but who made a return appearance during the Season 10 finale of the Fox singing competition.

Commented Bach on Facebook: "Interesting. Hanging with James Durbin from 'American Idol'. He tells me he wanted to sing [the SKID ROW song] '18 And Life' on 'American Idol' but was told he's not allowed to, it's 'not cleared.' Who makes these decisions and why? How? He was told he could do a BON JOVI song but not SKID ROW. Very interesting. And shitty."

Durbin performed JUDAS PRIEST's classic songs "Living After Midnight" and "Breaking The Law" with the British heavy metal legends themselves during the "American Idol" finale.

Sebastian Bach recently completed work on his new album at a Los Angeles studio with his new, young, virtuosic guitarist Nick Sterling, drummer Bobby Jarzombek and producer Bob Marlette (BLACK SABBATH, SHINEDOWN, ATREYU, FILTER). Tentatively due in September via the Italian label Frontiers Records, the follow-up to 2007's "Angel Down" is being mastered at Precision Mastering in Los Angeles with Tom Baker.

Bach previously stated about his new solo material, "This CD will follow along the lines of 'Skid Row', 'Slave To The Grind', 'Subhuman Race' and 'Angel Down'. If you like rockin' guitar riffs, high-energy songs and performances, deadly drums of doom, and ear-shattering screams, we got your rock right here!" He also described the songs as "heavy, interesting, classic sounding, modern sounding, completely rock 'n' roll — just how we like it!"

Sebastian in 2009 collaborated with HATEBREED frontman Jamey Jasta on several tracks for Bach's new solo album, with Nick and Charlie Bellmore of the Connecticut band PHANTOMS assisting during the pre-production process. The singer has also written material with John 5 (ROB ZOMBIE, MARILYN MANSON).

SEBASTIAN BACH Rules Out SKID ROW Reunion: 'I Don't Wanna Lie To My Fans'

SEBASTIAN BACH Rules Out SKID ROW Reunion: 'I Don't Wanna Lie To My Fans'
Former SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach was interviewed on this afternoon's (Thursday, August 19) edition of "The BS" ("The Buckethead Show") on Orlando, Florida's Real Radio 104.1. The chat is now available for streaming using the audio player below. A couple of excerpts from the interview follow.

On why he sometimes takes issue with interviewers who "harp on the SKID ROW days":

Bach: "They're [the current lineup of SKID ROW] still around and they're playing where they play and I have to go on the Internet all the time and explain to people that I'm not in the band, and it's just frustrating.

"If you got fired from a job, everywhere you go, it wouldn't be, 'Jimmy who worked at McDonald's in '89.' You'd be like, 'Get over it.' [laughs]"

On why he can't reunite with his former bandmates as SKID ROW:

Bach: "Let me answer it as honestly as I can. You're talking about... When SKID ROW was last good... We broke up in '96, but I don't even count that. I would say '91 was when we were last really a good band. I just don't live in 1991 in 2010, and I'm talking about four other guys that I haven't seen in 15 years.

"I think of SKID ROW the same way you might think of picking up your high-school yearbook. You have affection for what happened 30 years ago, but you look at the yearbook and you go, 'Oh, cool,' and you shut it, and it's today.

"I don't know those people.

"It's not sports. It's not like a team.

"When I watch ['That Metal Show' host] Eddie Trunk's show — I love Eddie Trunk; he's one of my good friends — but he talks about musicians like they're sports teams.

"I don't express musically what they [the current lineup of SKID ROW] express in their last record.

"If you listen to their last record and you listen to my last record, then your answer would be right in front of you.

"If I wanted to just play songs from 30 years ago, then I would call 'em and we would go out with FOGHAT and KANSAS. But then I'd be lying to you. That's the way I feel.

"I look at SKID ROW and the nose chain and I go, 'Wow, cool. Neat.' And I shut the book. It's not relevant today to me.

"I don't wanna lie to my fans.

"To me, I would want honesty from my artists.

"Robert Plant can't go anywhere without hearing, 'Hey, why don't you do LED ZEPPELIN?' 'Cause it's not in his heart. 'Raising Sand' with Alison Krauss is who Robert Plant is — he's not squeezing the lemon juice down his leg at the age of 65. [laughs] And I'm not the 'Youth Gone Wild', I'm sorry — I'm 42. It's a great song, but I'm not gonna pretend that it's who I am today, 'cause it's not."

Former SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach release solo album

Former SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach is currently working on material for a new solo album which he says will be released through an as-yet-undisclosed "major label."

**UPDATE**: Sebastian Bach has released the following clarification/statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:

"It says on Blabbermouth today that my new CD will be released 'on a major label.' I never said this because as of right now, that is not true.

"Blabbermouth is the best rock site on the web, but they frequently take things out of context. What I said was 'a major label has come to the table with [the funds] to make the new record,' which is true! BUT, I am sorry to say, the major label is Sony Japan. Right now the only country that will put out my record on a major label is Japan. I thank them for their support.

"Sony Japan is the only major label in the world that I am aware of that wants new music from me. Of course, this is humiliating to write, but I am forced to clarify this because of today's Blabbermouth.

"How I wish the article was true!

"By the way, if you count the unreleased 'country' songs I have, there are around 30 tracks I have that I would love to jam on your iPod. Thanks to Japan, I just may be able to do that!"

Bach's current solo band includes guitarists Nick Sterling and Johnny Chromatic, drummer Bobby Jarzombek and bassist Rob DeLuca.

Sebastian last year collaborated with HATEBREED frontman Jamey Jasta on several tracks for Bach's new solo album, with Nick and Charlie Bellmore of the Connecticut band PHANTOMS assisting during the pre-production process. The singer has also written material with John 5 (ROB ZOMBIE, MARILYN MANSON).

Commented Sebastian: "Nick is very prolific.

"This will be the most demos by far I have recorded for any record I have ever done, counting all the songs I have with Nick, John 5, Charlie Bellmore, Jeffrey Steele, Vicky McGehee, and Jamey Jasta.

"Nick's melodies are very challenging and he is making me step up my game in the studio. Teaching me stuff about recording, too!

"He is coming here soon and we are gonna write a song with Aaron Lewis of STAIND!

"Met Aaron at John Rich's house and hung with him Friday in [Atlantic City]!

"Can't wait to crush your iPod with new jams!!"

He added, "As I said a couple of days ago, I have 21 demos for new rock CD. 18 rockers, three ballads.

"You can only fit 13 songs max on a CD. I gotta pick the best songs out of these.

"Believe me, this album will rock hard like every album I have ever done. But I dig singing ballads, too. Gotta have dynamics on the CD.

"By the way, did I mention I have EIGHTEEN rockers and THREE ballads?

"Chillax, people, trust me! It's only been 21 years we've been rocking together, fer fux sakes, hahaha!"
