Legendary Swedish guitarist YNGWIE MALMSTEEN is back in the studio recording a brand new album for a late 2010 release. More information will be made available soon.
Malmsteen released the "Raw Live" DVD on June 29. According to a press release, the set "provides an unprecedented and unique look at the rise of a guitar god. Spanning from 1981 through 1999 and encompassing extremely rare footage of Yngwie's early years in Sweden, this video displays the infancy of Yngwie's prodigious skills well prior to his first worldwide album and travels through Yngwie's masterful career, including his masterful performances from his first solo albums, 'Rising Force', 'Marching Out', and 'Trilogy'. Also included in this unique video are never-released behind-the-scenes footage of Yngwie and newly shot personal touches of Yngwie which open up the viewer to a side of the guitar maestro which is rarely seen by the public."
Yngwie Malmsteen donated his guitar to the city of Bologna during the inauguration of Music Italy Show — Italy's most important trade fair featuring musical instruments, publishing, backstage equipment, DJ and discography — on May 15. The Commissariat of Bologna (Mayor) was present to accept this honor, along with the President of BolognaFiere. Multiple local authorities from the Emilia Romagna region and province and city of Bologna were also in the audience.
The ceremony opened with a performance by the 65-piece Giuseppe Verdi marching band followed by Yngwie signing and presenting his guitar to the city of Bologna.
Yngwie Malmsteen headlined "The Ultimate World Guitar Exhibition" at this year's Music Italy Show, which was held May 15-17, 2010 in Bologna, Italy. Malmsteen also took part in an exclusive clinic on May 18 at Castlebrando in Treviso, Italy — considered to be one of Italy's most impressive medieval castles. Fans got a chance to experience Yngwie's wizardry playing up close and personal.

HYDROGYN's new album, "Judgement"
Ashland, Kentucky based hard rockers HYDROGYN have parted ways with guitarist Jeff Young (ex-MEGADETH).
In a statement released to BLABBERMOUTH.NET earlier today by HYDROGYN's management company, The Paramour Group LLC, the band's frontwoman, Julie Westlake, stated about Young's exit from the group, "After five months of recording the new [HYDROGYN] album ['Judgement'] with Jeff, it has become very obvious that our personalities and work ethic are very different. I worked alongside Jeff to complete three songs that he brought in for the album, and I must say, I'm just not pleased. Knowing it would have been an argument if anything was said, and trying to give him the opportunity to take part in the writing of the album, as the release date draws near, I just don't want them on the album because I don't think they are strong enough, and knowing what kind of tension it would cause, I just really feel that this is just not a good fit."
HYDROGYN's new album, "Judgement", is still set for an early October release.
The band's last CD, "Deadly Passions", came out in 2008. The effort, which was recorded in Huntington, West Virginia's Smash Hits Studio, included a cover version of ALANIS MORISSETTE's mega-smash "You Oughta Know".
From their inception in 2004, Ashland, Kentucky based hard rockers HYDROGYN have been creating a buzz with their explosive brand of hypnotic grooves and riffs. Core members JULIE (the voice), and guitarist JEFF WESTLAKE have captured the attention of fans and critics alike with their modern-hard rock sound fronted by, quite simply, the best female vocalist on the music scene today.
Though they've been actively recording, touring & building a solid fan base over the past few years, HYDROGYN are quickly proving that 2010 will be their most prolific year thus far. New line up changes have media outlets worldwide touting the band as the newest "supergroup". This is due to the addition of guitarist JEFF YOUNG who brings his renowned shredding virtuosity as evident on the classic and fan favorite MEGADETH album "So Far, So Good… So What!" (Capitol Records, 1988). Bass monster JAMES LOMENZO (White Lion, Black Label Society, Ozzy) also joins the fold after his recent exit from MEGADETH, and New York-based kHz drummer JOE MIGZ rounds out the band with his groove laden drum beats. Together, they plan to take HYDROGYN on a full-on global assault in 2010.
HYDROGYN is currently locked away in an undisclosed location in the snowy hills of Kentucky on a songwriting sabbatical working on their new album, "Judgement", to be released Summer 2010. Offers are currently presenting themselves for major festivals in Europe and North America. Stay tuned...

Video game metal masters POWERGLOVE release their new album, "Saturday Morning Apocalypse",
Video game metal masters POWERGLOVE will release their new album, "Saturday Morning Apocalypse", on September 28 via eOne Music.
"'Saturday Morning Apocalypse' came out brighter and darker, faster and slower than our previous releases," says drummer Bassil Silver.
This is POWERGLOVE's first record with eOne Music and the band is taking its songs in a new direction.
These new tracks are based off the nostalgia of Saturday morning cartoons and movies that anyone who's grown up in the '80s will immediately recognize.
Silver adds, "No matter what we write, we know all the comments will be about how bizarre we look, how ridiculous this track list is, and the fact that we somehow got Tony Kakko [SONATA ARTICA] to sing the Pokemon theme for us. We would tell you how clown-rapingly awesome it is, but you can decide that for yourself when the album comes out in September."
"Saturday Morning Apocalypse", POWERGLOVE's power metal renditions of '80s cartoon themes, will feature the following tracks:
01. X-Men
02. Gotta Catch Em All
03. The Real Adventures of Johnny Quest
04. This Is Halloween
05. Batman
06. Transformers
07. Inspector Gadget
08. Heffalumps and Woozles (Winnie The Pooh)
09. The Simpsons (feat. Tony Kakko)
10. The Flinstones
11. Gotta Catch 'Em All (feat. Tony Kakko)
POWERGLOVE recently completed two separate, successful, tours with HAMMERFALL and SONATA ARTICA. Watch for them this summer as they continue to add dates for video game festivals and live performances.
POWERGLOVE is composed of four battle-hardened rockers out of Boston: Alex Berkson, Bassil Silver-Hajo, Chris Marchiel, and Nick Avila. This band shreds metal renditions of everything from old-school 8-bit video game classics to contemporary blockbusters, all with a heavy metal attitude.
